Individual
I am a relational therapist. This means that I believe that true healing comes from genuine connection. We are able to explore the avoided, unattended or forgotten parts of you that may be laced with shame, confusion and self-judgment by cultivating connection in a safe and confidential space.
My method of therapy is one of guided self-discovery and understanding through research-based and psychodynamic approaches. This method allows for the unique possibility of science-driven treatment combined with a warm therapeutic approach that leads to lasting healing and continual growth.
Trauma
When we experience trauma, our brains often need time to process this event to make sense of the experience. If an event is beyond our ability to understand, or if the trauma repeats over time, our brains can have difficulty effectively processing the trauma. Injuries and traumatic events can rob us of many things, including our joy in life. Sometimes we find it difficult to deal with these things by ourselves and need help. The good news is that there are very effective research-based treatments that alleviate symptoms and enable one to process the trauma and learn skills and tools to become stronger, healthier, and happier. Trauma treatment can empower you to move past the trauma and reclaim your life, your family, and your future.
Addiction & Sexuality
Compulsive behavior can impact all areas of our lives. When we find ourselves coping in ways that start to hurt us, we may need to look more closely at our coping style. Sexuality is just one of these behaviors that can easily become harmful if used beyond its purpose. If you find yourself struggling with sexual compulsivity, atypical sexual interests, or making choices related to sexuality, healing is possible. I offer many years of training and expertise in these specific issues and can guide you to finding peace in this particularly difficult area.
Assessment
In-depth testing and assessment can answer specific therapeutic questions that may not be evident through therapy alone. I offer cognitive and personality assessment for individuals seeking answers through assessment. Common topics investigated through assessment include memory decline, ADHD diagnosis, compulsivity and impulsivity, intelligence, and personality.
Supervision
Becoming a therapist in Colorado? Colorado’s Mental Health Practice Act requires all Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) to follow state educational, examination, and supervised practice guidelines. You must also fulfill experience requirements by working as a professional counselor candidate. The State of Colorado mandates that candidates must acquire at least 100 hours of supervision for 2000 hours of work experience. I offer supervision hours for those seeking hours toward their licensure.
